From Centre Daily Times -- Finally there is a Spanish language article site to help web developers and marketers promote their websites. The website www.ArticulosYA.com has launched with the capability to do just that. Each article is allowed a biography which can contain up to two links back to the site of your choice. The links can be plain text or html.
Now Spanish language internet marketers can write original articles in Spanish and post them to a Spanish only website where they can be indexed by all search engines.

From Xinhua -- Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes were awarded the "Don Quijote de la Mancha" prize for their contribution to
promoting Spanish language and culture, the Santillana Foundation and Spain's Castilla-La Mancha authorities announced Thursday.
Head of the Castilla-La Mancha authorities Jose Maria Barreda and Director of the Santillana Foundation Emiliano Martinez announced the decision taken by the panel of adjudicators who gathered in Toledo in central Spain.

From Digital Spy -- The BBC World Service will close its Romanian language offering on August 1 after 68 years on the air.
The closure, which will save £1.3m per year, comes as part of a long-term plan to
redirect money into the BBC Arabic and to-be-launched BBC Persian television services.

From Media Life Magazine -- For years, the Spanish-language upfront followed the broadcast upfront but was always first when it came to increases in ad spending for the coming year's TV season.
Not so this year.
While both broadcast and cable have had strong upfronts,
Spanish-language television, whose upfront is now underway, is expected to see only a modest 6 percent increase over last year’s expenditures by the time negotiations wrap up later this summer. Last year's spending was up just over 10 percent.

The video content deal between al-Jazeera and ITN's archive business, ITN Source, is thought to be in worth more than £500,000 and will give the Doha-based news broadcaster access to the footage for more than five years.

The Carolina Panthers are adding Spanish-language broadcasts this season through a one-year deal with Charlotte-based WNOW-AM.
With the agreement, the Panthers become the 12th franchise in the 32-team National Football League with a broadcast in Spanish.

From Mediaweek -- The nation's major Spanish-language radio owners have formed an industry committee dedicated to protecting Spanish-language radio's interests as Arbitron prepares to convert the top 50 markets to the electronic measurement using the portable people meter.
Four groups make up the newly-created Spanish Radio Association, including Spanish Broadcasting System, Entravision Communications, Univision Communications and Border Media Partners.
All four have signed contracts with Arbitron for the PPM service.

S4C, the Welsh-language broadcaster, is investing in an internet television company backed by Wales's first billionaire, Terry Matthews.
Inuk Networks, based in south Wales, has developed a telephone, broadband and television platform called Freewire that is being rolled out to students in halls of residence. It enables students, who often have telephone connections for computers in their rooms but not TV aerial sockets, to watch normal TV on their PCs or Macs - a service available in the US but not previously in the UK.

From the Glasgow Daily Record -- It also, unlike practically every other half-decent documentary which comes out of tartan Beeb, goes out at a reasonable hour rather than at a time when most folks are in their pits snoring. But I have a suggestion.
Do it in English, the language spoken by the vast majority of most of the licence payers and subtitle it in Gaelic.

A dramatic change in the U.S. Spanish-language television industry may be around the corner as a result of pending Televisa v. Univision litigation, with the trial now scheduled to begin on July 2 in Los Angeles federal court.
The litigation stems from Televisa's attempt to annul the Programming License Agreement (PLA) that was reached in 1992 between Emilio Azcarraga Milmo (the late father of current Televisa Chairman and CEO Emilio Azcarraga Jean) with recently retired Univision Chairman Jerold Perenchio.

Some 218 participants received
their certificates in Arabic, Japanese, French, Korean and Mandarin courses and foreign participants in Malay courses from the guest of honour, Awg Ibrahim bin Hj Abd Rahman, Assistant Director at the Department of Technical Education, Ministry of Education.
